Blues Stay Top After 10 Goal Thriller

With the Royal Blues slipping to 2nd place after Carnegies winning 4-1 in the earlier match, a game against Fritz who were unbeaten all last season while taking the title, was never going to be an easy one. Taipei Fritz have  players with both Taiwan Division 1 and international experience and their typical style is one of possession, slick passing and clever movement.Teams who defend deep against this seem to come undone in the end and with this in mind, the Blues started the match with only one intention. ATTACK!

Within 10 minutes of the start Royal Blues pressing high up the pitch allowed Colin O'Bryan to break from midfield ,clear of the Fritz defence and through on goal to slot past the advancing keeper. The pressing didn't stop there and shortly after, a tackle on the right wing by debutant and man of the match Atsushi Yanagisawa led to a perfect cross onto the head of Jose Young Galo to put the Blues 2-0 up. What happend next led to the craziest game of football most of the players are ever going to experience.

Taipei Fritz pulled a goal back to make it 2-1, only for Danny McClean to extend the gap once more for the Blues by making it 3-1. Fritz scored again to make it 3-2 and then again the Blues created a 2 goal lead when Ebrima Nyassi raced through to make it 4-2. During this time Taipei Fritz had a man sent off following a kick and team Fritz seemed to lose their temper and surrounded our fouled player, again trying to kick him. After a 25 man tussle, the game continued and Fritz started to push even harder to get back into the match. The Royal Blues continued to break up any attempted play and carried on attacking aggressively. Fritz had their own chances and found themselves 4-3 behind with around 20 minutes left to play. No time to take a breather, Fritz were then awarded a penalty and a great chance to make it 4-4.Up stepped their top scorer who already has 6 goals so far this season, only for him to be denied by a great save from Blues keeper Adam Lupinski, diving to his left and clearing the ball.

8 minutes left on the clock and Fritz pulled level to 4-4 and it looked like the points were going to be shared. This wasn't to be, as the play remained open and the Blues started to push on even more to try and claw back the win. With the clock ticking down a poorly cleared cross let in Vietnamese striker Long, who sent the ball home and made it 5-4 with minutes left to play. Even with 3 minutes left there was still the feeling that anything could happen and it did, when another debutant Jorge Alvaro broke into the Fritz penalty area from his left back position and slotted home the 10th and final goal to end it 6-4 Royal Blues!

What a match from both teams and even with so many goals, it was far from an undisciplined display and everyone worked hard to secure the win.

The win takes the Royal Blues back to the top of the table, again having played one more match than their closest rivals Carnegies FC.
