Match Reports Taiwan Cup

Lions Cull Badgers – but leave it late

After several weeks without football, the Taipei Red Lions finally made it back on to the pitch in a friendly game against a Badgers team with a sprinkling of Shane players. They will not, however, be referred to as Shaggers. The game saw the debuts for several new players, including Genghis “Edwin” Khan, Gaddafi, and newbie Finn, Jarkko. It also saw the return of Ian, making his first Lions appearance since the Autumn Cup last year, who would also make a vital contribution to the Lions victory.

Shane 3-1 Celts

The game reflected our weaker squad against a full strength Shane team… we were defensive against their most expansive game.

Our plan to sit back in our half and deny them space between the Midfield and Defence worked well after we worked out what to do; basically the plan was to get to half-time at 0-0 when they were going to lose their best two players and then change to a more attacking formation in the second half and frustrate them into making mistakes.

Fritz 2- 0 Peacocks

The first half was very much a cagey affair and the only difference between the teams was a deserved penalty for Fritz, which was tucked away with aplomb.

Lions 4 - 1 Mitsukoshi

The Red Lions romped their way to a second successive BML victory at Da Jia on Sunday, romping home against a very poor Shin Kong, aka Mitsukoshi, team, despite playing over half the match with just 10 players.
